IN THIS ISSUE

Coupled with the recent wintry weather, The Anchor Players have also had some stormy patches. Regrettably, our promised Dockyard BINGO was banged by unforeseen circumstances. Also our spring production of Whodunnit cannot be 'dun' this year as only one actor auditioned for one of the seven male roles. Yet, this August edition of The Anchorage confirms that we are still on course despite the gales and swells – steering into some sunlight . . .

LIVE – But Limping Slightly

All actors and entertainers worth their salt aspire towards that rare phenomenon: the one-man(woman) show as a culmination of years of theatre experience wrapped up as a singular offering to theatre goers.

Following his most recent successes in Kiss me Kate and Centre Stage, our own Jeff Batt, that much accoladed and often awarded stageman, premières our forthcoming surprise Jeff Batt LIVE, but limping slightly. Normally only about fifty minutes long, Jeff's multi-faceted version devised, directed, acted, sung and danced by himself, is a ninety minute feast prepared to tour the Western Cape later this year. Assisted by the gorgeous dancers Leilani Beer and Nicolene Freeman – remember their fresh choreography and crisp dancing in Centre Stage? – this show will glitter with song and dance.

Having attended rehearsals, one dares not disclose the magic of Jeff's encompassing venture. But brace yourself for some stunning impersonations of international entertainer celebrities that will have you rolling in the aisles. His inimitable brand of music and humour can be savoured at the Theatre in the Dockyard in Simon's Town during no less than nine performances.

Avoid the expected stampede for this unequalled theatrical experience, and book your seats by telephoning infoMotion at 785.2466 now.

AT THE MALL DOLL.
Also watch out for Jeff's novel promotional stunt in the Longbeach Mall at 12:00 am on Saturday 10 August.

Dockyard BINGO

The game was up! Can you believe we had to drop our Dockyard BINGO evening due to bureaucratic obstacles presented by our gaming laws? Seems like we would have been diverting revenue from struggling Casinos and the Lotto black hole!

Wouldn't you just love to give 'em all a good shake up!?

'WHODUNNIT' – Put on one side

Director Tony Stiglingh held auditions for Anthony Shaffers Comedy Thriller WHODUNNIT but was unable to cast all the characters mainly due to availability of male actors over the planned period of rehearsal and staging. With so many interested actors committed to other productions, he was forced to re-look at his run dates. Unable to move back the dates too much before they would clash with preparations for our panto Cinderella – we are postponing this baffling case until the early new year.
