VOLUME 5, ISSUE 3 IN THIS ISSUE Basking in the autumn glow and brimming with excitement, the April edition of The Anchorage rejoices in a successful replay of our AGM, announces our new 2002 Committee and accolades the 2001 Anchor Award Winners, and entices you with our new show.
ANCHORS AWEIGH! The second time lucky AGM on 19 March brought together an eager crew of members who could constitutionally raise the Anchor Players' anchor for a full steam ahead 2002. After the welcome, secretary Jean Glass read the AGM 2001 minutes and treasurer Lynn Moss reassured us that our books are in order. Outgoing chairman Cole Cameron delivered the annual report, then without much ado, the new committee was elected:
Chairperson: Mike Wilson Many thanks to the outgoing chairman and committee for their hard work during the past year. Snacks and drinks were enjoyed whilst reviewing a display of seven selected Cape Technikon Architectural Technology students' conceptual design proposals for the possible upgrading of the Simonsberg Theatre entrance, foyer and social areas. Aubrey Hindle and Eve Gould delighted us with some slick evergreen songs, closing with "Some Enchanted Evening", an ooh-aah rendition that set the exact mood for the enchanting Anchor Awards for 2001 which opened with the awarding of... Life Membership in recognition of Outstanding Service to Anchor Players, to Sue Bolton, Claudine Johnston and Colette Gilbert ... Merit Certificates to Mike Moss for Outstanding Artistic and Technical Contribution, and Heather MacClachlan for Inaugural Direction of a Touring Production The Anchor Trophy Winners were:
Amidst enthusiastic wolf-whistles, excited yells and throbbing hugs we were bewitched rather than bothered and bewildered. Bravo bravissimo to each and all!
