A Drama by Fay & Michael Kanin
Based on Japanese stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa

Directed by Sue Bolton
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc

10 to 19 AUGUST 2000
AT THE THEATRE IN THE DOCKYARD

The story unfolds. It is 1000 years ago outside Kyoto, - the previously ancient capital of Japan - the Rasho Gate to the city has fallen into a decayed ruin and has the unsavoury reputation as a hideout for thieves and a dump for unclaimed corpses.

A Samurai warrior is killed in the adjacent forest, but how? By whom?

In a magical Japanese atmosphere we are taken from the court scenes to the action in the forest and back to the cold shelter of the Rasho Gate. Who is telling the truth...?
