ONWARD

A Special Meeting was held by the Anchor Players at the Simonsberg - theatre in the dockyard - on the evening of 26 April 2004. The meeting sought to find a way around the impasse created at the Annual General Meeting when the meeting was closed without a committee having been formed.
The special meeting was attended by past office bearers, life members, members and ex members. Also present was last years Vice Chairman/acting Treasurer Niel Beer and committee member Belinda Burchell-Batt.
Open discussion led up to an address from Cdr Andrew Blake who called for the creation of a work group to take over the immediate business affairs of the society in absence of an appointed committee. He outlined the need to identify and secure the society's assets, to establish it's liabilities, and to apply sound management to it's financial affairs. The need to fit the society's role within the Simon's Town community and the SA Navy was seen to be crucial. Once these tasks have been adequately addressed, attention would be given to staging modest productions until such time as the society was on a firmer footing.
To this end those present elected Cdr Blake to act as head of the working committee. The Commander outlined his plan to draw on the expertise of the many who volunteered to assist. Both Belinda Burchell-Batt and Niel Beer of the last committee pledged their assistance in moving the process forward.
All comments, suggestions or offers of assistance are welcome.

COLLETTE GILBERT

Anchor Players are sad to hear of the sudden death of Collette Gilbert.
Collette, an Anchor Players stalwart, will be ever remembered by both casts and crews of shows such as MORT, RASHOMON, ONCE_UPON_A_TIME.COM (Granny Hood), MICKEY KANNIS and many others, as one half of that dynamic duo affectionately known as 'The Sisters'. Our thoughts go out her family and to Claudine.
We have missed you Collette. Now you will be missed even more.
