VOLUME 7, ISSUE 2 FROM THE CHAIR Hi everyone, Well it's great to be back, and I'm fightng fit again, well almost .... and I'm looking forward to 2004. As you can see there are quite a few things happening over the next few weeks so I hope you will all join in, especially the AGM on the 31st March. Our first production of 2004 is the PHSYCADELIC SHACK, no that's not the Admirals office ... who said that? This is a low budget production so, with your support the Society could do well from it. Even if you can't sing come along and enjoy the auditions. See you there, JEFF. AUDITIONS: PhSyCaDeLiC SHACK Auditions for our first production of 2004. The show is a musical variety, based on Soul, Motown, R&B Music from the 60's onward. It takes place in an imaginary night club that has a 'Soul Music Night'. Performers will be expected to learn 2-4 songs each in one month. Some will be expected to perform in duets, trios or quartets. Movement will be minimal. The songs will be provided. Backing tracks will be used, and will be given to performers along with lyrics immediately after auditions. Costume will be in 60-70's style. A PANS PEOPLE/TOP OF THE POPS style dance group is also required. Apart from the dancers, there will be a cast of 12 vocalists, 6 male and 6 female. We will also require;

YOUR IDEAS Do you have ideas for a play, musical, caberet or any other interesting and entertaining concept? If so give us a call or write to us with a brief description and perhaps we can make your dreams come true. We have the facilities if you have the imagination. A 400 seat theatre with lighting and sound system, a full costume wardrobe, props and sets. Simon's Town is fast becoming a major tourist destination and our community is growing all the time, so it's about time the entertainment scene offered our members, friends and visitors a wider variety of interesting things to see and do. TIDY UP TIME We will be expecting some help from members to do some spring cleaning in and around the theatre. So some volunteers at the AGM would be much appreciated. All you need is a mop, broom, polish and a bit of elbow grease, so thanks in anticipation. PROGRAMME During the Navy Festival we will be launching our new regular programme, listing all our events times and prices etc. It will also include other local events and happenings that can benefit our community. There will also be space for local businesses to advertise their services or wares throughout Simon's Town, Fish Hoek, Sun Valley, Muizenberg, Noordhoek and Kalk Bay. The first edition will be of 2000 copies.
